| By Richard Ahern — World chess champion Magnus Carlsen, 31, has held the no.1 world ranking since 2013 but was shockingly defeated by American teen Hans Niemann last month.
After the match, both were set to continue in the tournament, but Carlsen took to Twitter to announce he was withdrawing and attached a YouTube clip of José Mourinho, saying, “If I speak, I am in big trouble.”
The 
tweet kicked off a round of cheating allegations across social media.
Despite there being no evidence of cheating, it didn’t help that Niemann, 19, has cheated in the past on Chess.com, something he admitted to.
But what about the anal beads?
In one corner of the internet, an allegation of Niemann using anal beads (a sex toy consisting of a string of beads inserted into the rectum) to cheat started to gain steam. Then, when other grandmasters began joking about it and a German media outlet wrote an article on it — suddenly the “anal bead conspiracy” had gone viral.
In an interview on September 6, the 19-year-old fired back against the allegations, saying, “I have never cheated in an over-the-board game.”
“If they want me to strip fully naked, I will do it,” Niemann added.
But how can you cheat with anal beads, you ask?
“The real answer is actually elementary,” a Reddit user posted.
A top troll post on Reddit suggested it is, in fact, the world no.1, Magnus Carlsen, who has been using anal beads to dominate the chess world for the last ten years. The user theorized that his recent decline in performance was due to him being too drunk to feel the vibrations of the beads.
Recently Carlsen found out that his “anal bead supercomputer design” had been stolen by Niemann. But, of course, he can’t come clean about it without implicating himself. So instead, he withdraws from the tournament with a cryptic tweet.
Makes sense!
In a nutshell, the theory speculated that the anal beads were connected to an A.I.-powered computer that would somehow vibrate the beads inside the player to alert them of the best moves.
The notion of using artificial intelligence to cheat in chess is nothing new, particularly since the invention of smartphones, which are understandably banned in over-the-board games.
Most popular chess apps now have the computing power to swiftly beat world-class players. By recreating the game inside the app, the computer can instantly calculate the winning moves to near-perfect precision.
Many players have been caught using a variety of inventive ways to smuggle the computing power of a smartphone into their game.
Recent examples include:
- Hiding the phone in a toilet cubicle to refer to during bathroom breaks.
- Strapping the device to their leg.
- Using a microscopic earpiece to communicate with the phone.
The obvious next step in the evolution of cheating in chess was anal beads, apparently. Despite being somewhat disgusting, the idea could be considered genius.
Could you imagine a chess tournament doing cavity searches on the players? Even if a player is accused of cheating using such a method, who would be willing to prove it?
Genius.
Another rumor was that Niemann was using the remote-controlled vibrating anal beads to communicate with his coach, Maxim Dlugy.
Dlugy, who was banned from chess.com in 2017 for suspected cheating, would allegedly control the vibrations to alert Niemann to the best possible moves.
Despite the previous instances of Niemann and his coach cheating and the cryptic tweet from the world champion, there is no evidence that Niemann cheated during the game with Magnus Carlsen.
But chess fans can look forward to seeing a naked Hans Niemann at the board next time.
